Terms of sale and licence
A licence to use the Pro components in an unlimited number of your own products, commercial ones and client work included. One named developer, twelve months of updates, and everything you took stays yours afterwards, indefinitely.
Immediate. The licence key is shown on screen the moment the payment goes through, and the components are served against that key from this site.
Because delivery is immediate and complete, you are asked at checkout to request that delivery and to waive the fourteen day withdrawal period that would otherwise apply to a consumer purchase of digital content in the European Union. The waiver is recorded with your licence.
Thirty days, on request, without justification, on top of any statutory right you keep. The licence ends on refund.

# Vector Labels Licence Version 1.0 This document covers both tiers of Vector Labels. Section 3 applies to the Free Components, section 4 to the Pro Components. Everything else applies to both. The commercial shape of the offer, what it costs and why, is in `COMMERCE.md`. --- ## 1. Definitions **Software** means the Vector Labels library: the core components, the pictogram set, the generators, the stylesheet, the composed blocks, and the accompanying documentation. **Free Components** means the parts of the Software published without authentication, marked `"tier": "free"` in the registry. **Pro Components** means the parts of the Software served only against a valid Licence Key, marked `"tier": "pro"` in the registry. **Licensor** means Amine Affif. **Licensee** means the individual or the legal entity that obtained a Licence. **Licence Key** means the credential issued to the Licensee to obtain the Pro Components. **Seat** means one named individual developer who works with the Pro Components. **End Product** means a website, an application or any other work built by the Licensee that includes the Software, where the Software is not itself the substance of what is delivered. --- ## 2. Grant of licence The Licensor grants the Licensee a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide licence to use the Software under the terms below. The Licensor retains all rights not expressly granted. --- ## 3. Free Components The Free Components may be used, copied, modified and distributed as part of an End Product, for personal or commercial purposes, at no cost and without a Licence Key. Redistribution of the Free Components on their own, as a component library, a template pack, a starter kit or any other work whose substance is the Software itself, requires written permission. --- ## 4. Pro Components ### 4.1 What the Licensee may do - Use the Pro Components in an unlimited number of End Products, including commercial ones and work delivered to clients. - Modify, extend, restyle and recombine the source however the Licensee wants. - Deploy End Products publicly, including the compiled or bundled output of the Pro Components. - Keep using the version obtained during the licence term, indefinitely, even after the licence lapses. ### 4.2 What the Licensee may not do - Redistribute, publish, sell, sublicense or give away the Pro Components as source, in whole or in substantial part, whether modified or not. This includes public repositories, public package registries, design asset marketplaces and file sharing services. - Use the Pro Components to build a component library, a template pack, a UI kit, a design asset pack or any product that competes with the Software. - Share, publish or resell the Licence Key. - Remove, alter or obscure the licence identifier described in section 6. ### 4.3 Seats One Licence covers one Seat, meaning one named developer, unless the Licence states otherwise. Each individual who works with the Pro Components needs a Seat. Contractors count as developers for the duration of their engagement. A Team Licence covers the number of Seats stated at purchase. Seats may be reassigned between individuals; they may not be used concurrently by more people than the Licence covers. ### 4.4 Updates The Licence includes updates to the Pro Components published during the twelve months following the purchase. When the update window ends, the Licensee keeps everything obtained up to that point, under the terms of this document, indefinitely. Access to newer versions requires a renewal. --- ## 5. Licence Key The Licence Key identifies the Licensee. It is issued once and may be reissued if compromised. The Licensee is responsible for keeping it out of version control and out of client-side code. Reference it from an environment variable, as the documentation shows. The Licensor may revoke a Licence Key that is shared, published or used beyond the Seats covered. Revocation stops future downloads. It does not reach the files already obtained, and it does not affect End Products already deployed. --- ## 6. Licence identifier in delivered files **Each delivery of the Pro Components carries an identifier tied to the Licence.** It is stated here so that no Licensee is surprised by it. **What it is.** A short identifier written into the served files, and a corresponding value recorded against the Licence at the moment of delivery. **What it is not.** It contains no personal data beyond the licence identifier itself. It executes nothing, calls no network, and has no effect on rendering, on bundle size or on the behaviour of any End Product. The Software has no runtime dependency and makes no request at any point, before or after this clause. **What it is for.** One purpose only: establishing where an unauthorised copy of the Pro Components came from. It is not used for analytics, for profiling or for any measurement of how the Licensee works. Removing or altering the identifier is a breach of section 4.2. Compiling, bundling or minifying an End Product in the ordinary way is not: the identifier is expected to disappear from build output, and its absence there is not a breach. --- ## 7. Ownership The Software is licensed, not sold. The Licensor owns the Software and every copy of it. The Licensee owns the End Products they build, and nothing in this document claims any right over them. --- ## 8. Termination This licence ends automatically if the Licensee breaches section 4.2, section 4.3 or section 6. On termination the Licensee must stop using the Pro Components in new work and delete the source from their systems. End Products already delivered or deployed may continue to be used, maintained and shipped. --- ## 9. No warranty The Software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The Licensor does not warrant that the Software is free of defects, that it meets the Licensee's requirements, or that its operation is uninterrupted. --- ## 10. Limitation of liability To the extent permitted by law, the Licensor's total liability under this licence is limited to the amount the Licensee paid for the Licence in the twelve months preceding the claim. The Licensor is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for lost profits, lost revenue or lost data, arising from the use of or the inability to use the Software. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death, personal injury, fraud or wilful misconduct. --- ## 11. Refunds Beyond any statutory right, the Licensor offers a full refund within thirty days of purchase, on request and without justification. The Licence ends on refund and section 8 applies. --- ## 12. Student licence A reduced-price Licence is available to students, on a declaration made at purchase. It carries the same rights as a full Licence. --- ## 13. Governing law This licence is governed by French law. Any dispute that cannot be settled amicably falls to the competent courts of France. --- ## 14. Contact Questions about this licence, requests for permissions it does not grant, and reports of unauthorised redistribution: contact the Licensor. --- *Vector Labels, Amine Affif.
